Description:

GBPM managed the project from the conceptual phase to the opening. The accepted design required changing the interior layout of the existing building to accommodate guestrooms, lobby, and public spaces. Some new construction was included to maximize the space and provide the amenities and infrastructure required for an operating hotel. The rooftop pool deck, additional egress stairs, mechanical buildings, and infrastructure support structure were constructed with a combination of steel and concrete. A modern HVAC, water and fire suppression system were added. Guestrooms maintained the existing 16-foot ceilings; the floors were retiled, and on-suite bathrooms were added. The existing marble floors, wood beams, and clay tile roofs and railings were restored. The open courtyard was converted to an open-air restaurant bar and a new fountain was added. The project began construction in 2019, was halted and restarted in 2020 due to the pandemic and was opened in 2021.
